Top Posts of 2014
Since 2014 was my first FULL year of blogging, I thought it would be fun to jump on the "Top Posts of..." bandwagon and share the most popular posts of the year. Just the top 6 - I didn't want to overwhelm you guys. (Also, I don't really post that often, at least compared to some bloggers ...) You definitely have good taste because these were some of my favorites as well. Here we go:

My Favorite Podcasts that Inspire, Inform and Entertain - Holy crap the internet loved this post! I guess after the success of Serial the world was hungry for more podcasts and this post just launched at the right time. I'm obviously passionate about podcasts, so I'm glad I was able to get people hooked on some new ones, and I even got hooked on new ones as well. There are some other fantastic recommendations in the comments section, so be sure to check that out if you haven't already. There's definitely a "My Favorite Podcasts, Part 2" somewhere in the future of Cake Over Steak - I've already started to compile a list. This post was SO popular (with almost as many page views as my homepage over the life of my blog - WHAT?), it had me thinking that perhaps I should have started a blog about podcasts. Seriously. Maybe in my next blog life.

Blueberry Mojitos - With a little help from a shoutout on Food52 and a couple other link-loves, this was my second most popular post. This is definitely one of my favorite recipes on the site (and was one of my favorites to test, hehehehe), so I'm glad it got so much love. It was also a part of the So Let's Pig Out Summer Potluck. How many days until I have mint plants growing on my roof again? Too many to count.

Overnight Pancakes with The Ultimate Pancake Syrup - This might be my favorite illustration from the blog so far. It's a recipe I shared from Joy the Baker's adorable second cookbook, Homemade Decadence. Check out the end of the post where I share a bonus recipe for a dinner we made using leftovers of that pancake syrup - that was probably the best meal we had at home all year.

Nutella Latte Popsicles for #POPSICLEWEEK - Oh, Popsicle Week - one of my favorite times of the year. This was my first contribution to that food blog holiday created by Billy of Wit and Vinegar. People love Nutella, hence the popularity of this one. This was my most popular post on the Pinterest-sphere, and it was my ode to The Fauxmartha and her Salted Nutella Syrup.

Apple Pie Granola - Whoa, throwback! This post is from January and was one of my very first original recipes. It couldn't be easier to make and it tastes like apple pie. This was my mom's favorite illustration, so I gave her a framed print of this along with a batch of the granola for her birthday in October.

Vanilla Bean Waffles - I should call 2014 "The Year of the Waffle". I made so many different kinds of waffles it's RIDICULOUS. Check out my tumblr (my sister-site where I post recipe reviews) for all of the ones I've made so far. These vanilla ones are based on Marion Cunningham's famous yeasted waffles, and they're delicious. I had a large print of this illustration made for my gallery show (it's in a 24" x 24" frame), and I can't wait to get it back so I can hang it up in our apartment.
2014 was truly a whirlwind and the best year of my life to date. I realized yesterday that I actually didn't want the year to end, which is a first for me. Normally I don't really care and it's just another day, but I was feeling really nostalgic for 2014. However, I can't wait to see what 2015 brings for my life and for this blog. Happy New Year, and thanks for sharing this space with me.
