Since hearing of pasta recipes like this one, I’ve been very intrigued. I love the idea of a pasta dish that merely requires you to mix some things in a bowl, toss in the cooked pasta (and some reserved pasta cooking liquid), garnish with some cheese, and serve. If you have access to fresh and flavorful ingredients, it’s the best solution for a quick and satisfying meal. [Read more…]
The summer before my senior year of college I did this crazy thing where I commuted from Philly to NYC for an internship, Monday through Thursday, for 10 weeks. Also, even though it was the hottest summer of my entire life, I did this other crazy thing where I had hot chocolate every day. Because when you are interning for Penguin Books and there’s a Jacque Torres chocolate shop across the street with a hot chocolate bar, that’s what you do. [Read more…]
Move over, pancakes – you’ve been replaced. Waffles have stolen the place in my heart that used to be heavily occupied by pancakes. (Sorry, Dad! I’ll still make you some.) [Read more…]
Lunch. It’s usually a pleasant time, a time to unwind and hopefully take your mind off of work and other obligations. Or, in my case, it is a time to browse through the numerous food blogs I attempt to follow, drooling over images of food while wishing I could run into my kitchen and put something in my darn slow cooker. When I first saw this cake on Linda’s blog, The Tart Tart, I knew I absolutely had to make it, but it had to be the right occasion; it was a show-stopper. That occasion turned out to be Easter this year. I was in charge of making dessert (of course – I probably volunteered for it), so I started scrolling through my Pinterest boards to see if anything popped out at me. I saw this cake and immediately knew it was the perfect choice: The flavor palette is a bit unique and reminded me of Spring, it seemed like something everyone in the family would appreciate, and I was dying for an excuse to make it.
