When it comes to my love for boozy drinks, my love for margaritas is unparalleled. I’m honestly a bit appalled that this is my first recipe for one on the blog. I like them tart, strong, on the rocks and with a sugared rim versus a salted rim. That’s how I roll. This particular recipe was inspired by a guava margarita I had last spring at the local restaurant Trattoria Fratelli during our crazy Feast of St. Pizza. ( << If you have no idea what that is, you should check it out right now. Preparations for this year’s feast are currently in full swing.) When I took my first sip of that one my eyes rolled back into my head, it was that good. I now jump at the opportunity to drink guava-flavored cocktails. This one I’m sharing with you today is my best attempt at creating a homemade version of the one I had last year. [Read more…]
I fell in love with whiskey and bourbon throughout the course of this past fall and winter, so it thrilled me to find a blackberry bourbon cocktail on the winter menu at Trat Frat (my favorite restaurant in town). I wound up going there quite a few times that season. Since they change their menu seasonally, we make it a point to go there at least once per menu. What usually brings me back is their cocktails, and a burning desire to have my favorite one(s) as often as possible before they disappear with the menu change. (This was especially true for the guava margarita on their spring menu, which I discovered during the Feast of St. Pizza.) The blackberry bourbon one was a major hit in my eyes, so I wanted to recreate it for for the blog this summer when blackberries were more readily available. [Read more…]
I recently spent an entire Saturday eating pizza with a bunch of friends (including the lovely Laura of Roam and Golightly, and she’s talking about this today too!). We visited ten of the best pizza shops in my hometown, eating a slice at each one. So over the course of 12 hours we each ate 10 slices of pizza. As we are at these places quite often, we do notice change. The overall customer service was improving as time went on. We didn’t feel like we had to wait as long as we have previously done. As we know the manager, we asked her why this was the case. She mentioned how it was to do with wanting to improve their business as a whole and wanted to see how the use of technology made a difference in a company. After our talk, she advised us to look into a site like https://toppossystem.com/best-pizza-pos-system/, which we were then able to understand how important this was to a business like this and many other pizza parlours.
Some of you may have been following along on Instagram that day, wondering “WTF?! What is she doing?” Well I’m about to explain myself. Back in September I listened to the second episode of the Pizza Party podcast, which was an interview with the man who invented this thing called “The Feast of St. Pizza.” Rich Greco did it first in NYC, visiting ten of the greatest pizza shops of New York in one day with a few friends. He even created a whole web site for it. I was really inspired by the idea (we all know I love pizza …), and I realized that not only could I do this in my hometown (which actually has a large amount of pizza places), but I knew a lot of my friends would be up to the challenge.
