Things I'm Loving: October 2014

Things I'm Loving: October 2014

Oh hey, October! You've been fun. I had my first pumpkin spice latte, ate a lot of other things made with pumpkin, and then started making my own pumpkin spice cappuccinos, thanks to the homemade pumpkin spice latte syrup from Two Red Bowls and my FREE cappuccino maker that I won through Renee's giveaway! (How many times can I type "pumpkin spice?")  I also met Joy the Baker, but more on that in a future post. If you're interested in learning more about what I do for my day job, my hometown paper (and former workplace) ran a feature on me in their "Just Folks" column on Monday, which you can read here. Also, if you're in the Lebanon area and would like to see my blog illustrations as real-life prints on paper, Robert and I are having our first ever joint art show at the Lebanon Valley Arts Council building (behind HACC in Lebanon). The reception will be part of the First Friday events on November 7th from about 5-9. In other news, here's what else I've been up to this month:

LISTENING

1989 - Is it weird that I woke up on Monday morning thinking "Taylor Swifffttttttt" (<<<read that in a creepy whisper voice)? I fell fully in love with Taylor through her last album, so I was eagerly anticipating the debut of this one on Monday. It's a new sound for her and I'm definitely enjoying it. Have any of you, my dear readers, been listening to it? What do you think? I know Stephanie's with me. That said, if you crank up her first single "Shake it Off" while you're alone in the car, and just give into it, singing along and dancing around in your seat, how could you NOT have a great time? Seriously.

OBSESSING

Unfancy - OBSESSION ALERT!!!! I'm obsessed with this fashion blog. And I am NOT a fashion blog reader. I don't even have time to read all of the food blogs I try to follow, so I'm usually very picky about blogs I attempt to follow in other categories. However, I actually go so far as to subscribe to Unfancy by email in addition to Bloglovin' so I couldn't possibly miss a post, and I look forward to reading her short and sweet posts every morning while I eat my breakfast. I discovered it through her interview on The Lively Show, one of my favorite podcasts. Her blog is based on the concept of a 37-piece capsule wardrobe that she swaps out every three months. I love her style, and so far it's really helped me to figure out exactly what I want to be wearing and how I want to spend my money (on clothes). In other words, if I could abduct her closet I totally would. I'm planning to go shopping at Madewell this weekend, so time will tell if I'm able to keep myself from buying out the entire store. (Please send help.)

VIEWING

Pizza in the Wild - While listening to Pizza Party, a new podcast I've been enjoying, I discovered the "Pizza in the Wild" photography project by Jonpaul Douglass. First of all, Pizza Party has been a really fun podcast thus far and is definitely worth a listen. But moving on - this photography project is really goofy and I like it. Douglass has been photographing pizzas, all "Hot and Ready" pizzas from Little Caesar's, in random places. For example, one of his most iconic images shows a pizza draped over the back of a mini horse. I also like the one of a pizza slumped against a brick wall, much like a drunk person who passed out in an alleyway. You should just check it out.
