#Commute No. 9

#Commute No. 9

This month's commute painting is based on a photo I took almost exactly a year ago, shortly after we returned from our honeymoon. I remember that I had a week or two of particularly gorgeous morning commutes at that time. It was as though Pennsylvania had gotten jealous while we were in France, so when we got back it was showing off as if to say, "Hey! I'm pretty too!" Sometimes going to a new place can open your eyes in a wonderful way, helping you to appreciate what you already had when you return.

So that's one reason why I love this image, but here's another reason: I haven't really seen this road for about 5 months. This is actually my favorite stretch of my commute, but due to a long-term detour I haven't been able to use it since mid-March. Thankfully, it looks like they're finally finishing up the bridge reconstruction they've been working on. I'm hoping I'll be able to drive this way again within a few weeks, just in time for beautiful fall mornings.
